May 5 World Midwives Day Celebrated
May 5th World Midwives Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Department of Midwifery, Faculty of Health Sciences, Fırat University.
Every year in our country, April 21-28 is celebrated as National Midwifery Week and May 5 is celebrated as International Midwifery Day. Midwifery is one of the oldest professions in history. Midwives are professionals who are responsible for providing the necessary care to the mother and newborn before, during and after birth. For this reason, they have a key role in achieving the ideal of women and newborns in particular and healthy society and healthy generations in general. The aim of midwifery education is to gain knowledge and skills especially for the protection and development of women, infant and child health and to train midwives with the desired qualifications.
The program, which was attended by academic and administrative staff of Fırat University Faculty of Health Sciences and midwifery students, ended with a music recital.
