Elazığ School of Health was established in 1996 within Fırat University with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 10.10.1996 and numbered 96/8655 to provide undergraduate education. Student intake started in 1997-1998 academic year. Founded in 1996, Elazığ School of Health has been continuing its activities under the name of Faculty of Health Sciences since 2015. The Department of Nursing and Midwifery continued its education, training and academic activities within the ‘Elazığ School of Health’ until 2015. The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics was established in 2009 within the School of Health Sciences and started its education and training activities by taking 41 students in the 2014-2015 academic year. Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Department started its education activities in 2018-2019. Our faculty, which includes the departments of Nutrition and Dietetics, Midwifery, Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, and Nursing, offers a four-year undergraduate education. The Faculty of Health Sciences employs 4 Professors, 11 Associate Professors, 14 Assistant Professors, 7 Lecturers, and 8 Research Assistants. Master's degree programs were launched in the Department of Nursing in the 2015-2016 academic year, in the Department of Nutritional Sciences in the 2022-2023 academic year, and in the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in the 2023-2024 academic year, all affiliated with the Fırat University Health Sciences Institute. Doctoral degrees are also offered in the Department of Internal Medicine.
