The "2026–2027 Academic Year Orientation and Awareness Program" was organized by the Fırat University Faculty of Health Sciences. The program aimed to facilitate students' adjustment to university life, introduce the faculty's academic and administrative structure, and raise awareness on various topics.
Held on September 28, 2026, at the Mustafa Temizer Conference Hall, the program began with an opening speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Gamze KIRKIL. Wishing the new academic year to be beneficial for both students and academic staff, the Dean offered advice regarding university life and professional training processes. She also highlighted the faculty's educational philosophy, student-centered approach, and its goal of training qualified healthcare professionals.
Following the opening, Vice Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zübeyde ERCAN provided information about the faculty's mission, vision, and academic structure. Briefings were given regarding educational activities, academic processes, and the facilities and opportunities available to students throughout their university life.
To support the students' adjustment to university, Student Affairs Officer Abdullah GENÇ provided information on student affairs, the academic calendar, course registration, educational processes, as well as scholarship and accommodation opportunities. Addressing topics directly relevant to the students' academic and social lives, GENÇ also answered questions from the students. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Filiz Ersöğütçü delivered a comprehensive presentation on addiction and the fight against it. The presentation specifically addressed online betting, games of chance, gambling, and related addictive behaviors, which pose significant risks—particularly for young people. While highlighting the impact of addiction on individual, social, and academic life, the session emphasized the importance of early detection of risky behaviors, addiction prevention, and the cultivation of healthy lifestyle habits.
The program, designed to help students make a conscious start to university life—not only academically but also socially, professionally, and personally—concluded following a Q&A session and an exchange of views.
The Fırat University Faculty of Health Sciences Orientation and Awareness Program for the 2026–2027 Academic Year helped new students familiarize themselves with the faculty and academic processes, adapt to university life, and gain awareness regarding current risks.
