To support disaster preparedness and awareness efforts, the Faculty of Health Sciences at Fırat University organized a "Disaster Awareness Training" on June 9, 2026, in the Prof. Dr. Bahaeddin Ögel Conference Hall. The training was conducted in collaboration with the Elazığ Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD).
The training, which attracted the interest of academic and administrative staff as well as students, provided comprehensive information on pre-disaster preparation, correct behavior during a disaster, safe evacuation practices, and post-disaster actions. The aim of the training was to raise awareness among participants regarding common types of disasters in Turkey, particularly earthquakes.
During the program, conducted by AFAD trainers, the importance of individual preparedness in reducing disaster risks was emphasized, and practical information was shared on topics such as preparing an emergency kit, knowing assembly areas, and correct evacuation methods. Participants were informed about the critical role of acting consciously during disasters in reducing loss of life and property.
