The 'Nursing Week Event' organised by Fırat University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing on 14 May 2024 at Bahattin Özel Conference Hall was held with the theme of the World Council of Nurses (ICN) 2024 "Economic Power of Care". The event, which addressed the economic dimension of the transformation in the health sector, examined the economic effects in the field of nursing in depth with the participation of guests from the field.
The session started early in the morning with the opening speeches of Prof. Dr. Gamze Kırkıl, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pınar Soylar, Head of Nursing Department. The speakers emphasised the economic value of the nursing profession in health systems. In the first session, Dr. Lecturer Prof. Dr. Seher Çevik AKTURA and Güllü YEŞİL evaluated the economic contributions of nursing services in the education sector and the effects of these contributions on social and economic balances.
The second session, which took place in the afternoon, addressed the strategic approaches of leaders and experts in the sector. Suggestions for increasing the economic value of nurses were presented and the impact of the steps to be taken in this regard on the nursing profession was discussed. It was also emphasised how the economic power of care can be linked to sustainability and development goals.
The event, which was enriched with the participation of guests, gained even more value with the sharing of experiences from the field. Nurses inspired the participants by sharing best practices and success stories implemented to increase the economic power of care.
